I Once Was Young
I once was young
and someone's son
And I was one
to try and sing
the songs
that preachers
preached
And teachers
threw
And bosses
drew from current books
and play
Like records
In the board rooms
of decision
games
which plodded
Bored with dull
And lifeless
shame engendered
claims
Of shepherds
With their flocks
And licking clocks
That bind the flesh
With fresh
insanity
